Hearing about people who have loved ones in the military and how they don’t have any contact or anything is different than actually experiencing it. It hasn’t been long yet but I feel kind of lost. My daily schedule is not the same. I feel like I am not the same anymore. It’s not because she’s my girlfriend, it’s because she is my bestfriend. Not being able to share good news or bad news with your bestfriend is like living in a lonely world.

I give props to the men and women who deal with this all the time. I can’t wait to see her. I don’t know when that will be but I am still looking forward to it.

Everyday, I hold in the sadness I always feel. I don’t know why and I don’t know what triggers it but it just happens. I just start to feel sad for no reason. I miss my girlfriend but that’s about it. I just feel like I want to drop everything I’m doing so I can just do nothing all day without a penalty. I hate being busy. I only liked it when my gf was here but now she’s at basic training and I (no joke) feel lost without her. My schedule is fucked up and my day doesn’t feel complete without talking to her. I just need to pull myself together and get over it. She’ll be back in December and I have no clue what happens after that. I just miss her so much. I feel like I have no friends. None of my high school friends has asked me if I was alright or even talked to me. They know she left and maybe I’m asking for too much but it kind of sucks to not have someone caring about you other than your mother you know? Well I better go to sleep now. Tomorrow is the last day I can talk to her before she goes to boot camp. See ya later Tumblah!

He caught a lot of flack for it, too, because some folks were upset that he inserted himself into the story instead of just standing back and recording it as a mere journalist. His response to their bullshit was awesome, too; because he pointed out that he did what a decent human being should have done in a time like that. It made me like him even more.
